Delayed due to covid, the new Wonka movie is out this December. A Prequel to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, it tells the story of a young Willie Wonka's journey (played by Timothy Chalamet) to world-famous chocolatier. The trailer reminds me of Jingle Jangle, the story of an eccentric toy-maker that came out at Christmas a few years ago, but if you've not seen that think Harry Potter and Paddington with a sprinkle of Mamma Mia!
Definitely one to watch this Christmas but have some chocolate handy! So much chocolate was used in production, they even stood in a vat of real hot (well warm) chocolate for some scenes. Award-winning Welsh chocolatier Gabriella Cugno, had the task of creating all the onset chocolates and spent hours crafting intricate designs for eccentric and magical chocolates.
For those in St Albans, you may recognise the lake used in some of the scenes, as they came to Verulamium Park to film it and for those who need a Hugh Grant fix at Christmas, he's an Oompa Loompa!
